Maintenance and Management of Formed Roads

Policy Purpose

To clarify the location and extent of formed roads the Council maintains and manages within New Plymouth District.

Policy Statements

1. The Council maintains and manages only those formed roads as listed in the Roading Asset Maintenance Management Database (RAMM).     

2. Any additions to the database will only be considered if the section of road meets the standards of the Roading Code of Practice, with additional criteria being the consideration of length, traffic counts, number of properties served, and the potential for future development and/or growth.

Policy Contact

The policy holder is the Roading Assets Team within the Community Assets Group.

Policy Review

This policy shall be reviewed five yearly from the date the policy is adopted.
