Concessions and Benefits for Seniors

Buses

Holders of SuperGold Cards can travel for free on off-peak services (9am-3pm weekdays and all Saturday services) on Citylink buses. Passengers aged 65 or over, and without a Super Gold card, qualify for a Senior Citizens fare. Please show the driver your ID.

Parking

Park for free up to 11am, Mondays to Saturdays in all Council paid-parking spaces providing a SuperGold card or an alternative Council parking card is displayed on the dashboard. This does not apply to time-restricted parking spaces, e.g. P30 parks. Contact us for an alternative Council parking card.

If you plan to stay beyond 11am, purchase the extra time as you arrive, our handheld devices will register that you have paid beyond 11am.

Time limits still apply. For example, there is a two hour time limit on Devon Street, this limit still applies to SuperGold cardholders.

Mobility Scooters

Electric mobility scooters are available to use free of charge at Pukekura Park and on the Coastal Walkway between Port Taranaki and Te Rewa Rewa Bridge.

Bookings are essential and can be made by calling NPDC on 06-759 6060 or emailing enquiries@npdc.govt.nz. The service is run by Taranaki Disabilities Centre Trust.  You must show staff that you can drive a scooter and sign a declaration to say you're competent. You will also need personal ID such as a Gold Card.
