The Council is proposing to amend the New Plymouth District Council Bylaw 2008 Part 14 Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Services (the Bylaw) in accordance with the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA). The amendment seeks to address water conservation by providing for the installation of water meters on existing residential properties in the district. The amendment of this Bylaw will provide the necessary regulatory framework should the Council decide to proceed with the universal installation of water meters.
This Statement of Proposal seeks your feedback on the proposed amendments to the Bylaw. If you wish to have your say on whether or not the Council should introduce water meters on all connections you should submit to the Long-Term Plan 2021-2031 rather than on this Statement of Proposal. Submissions on this Statement of Proposal should instead focus on the proposed Bylaw amendments.
