Back On Our Feet plan
Our Back on Our Feet plan is about helping households and businesses across the District which have been hit by the Covid-19 economic storm.
We want to hear from you about five measures in our yearly budget aimed at supporting tradies and businesses and giving a helping hand to community groups. You will find the survey at the bottom of this page which includes more details on each of the measures.
The five measures are:
‘Buy local’ by choosing local contractors for NPDC work
We want to give our Taranaki contractors and suppliers a helping hand by ensuring they get preference when tendering for NPDC work and projects.
Keep tradies in work making homes warmer and greener
Expanding our home insulation loan scheme so it is easier to make our homes warmer and more eco-friendly. This idea will keep work and money coming in for local tradespeople.
Slashing fees to support business
Cutting and dropping a range of fees for businesses, which will provide relief for struggling businesses and encourage others to keep spending and putting money into the economy.
More and faster money for grassroots groups
Putting more money into volunteer and community-based organisations and having an extra round of grants.
Keeping our main street buildings looking good
Investing more money so central city, and town and village main street shop building owners can improve their buildings and keep our streets looking beautiful.
Make sure you complete the survey to be in to win, it will take about seven minutes.
From May 15 to 19 we hosted a series of three online panel discussions open to the public.
In these the Mayor and Councillors discussed the Back On Our Feet plan and projects. The recordings are now available to view.
