Covid Alert level 2: Latest Update

Current situation

• There are 19 new community cases of Delta in Auckland and 3 in the Northern Waikato area, making a total of 1,071 in Aotearoa.
• After the Government’s review of alert levels today (20 September), Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 at 11.59pm tomorrow for at least two weeks. 
• Part of the Northern Waikato (Hauraki) area will go into a Level 4-type lockdown for five days.
• Taranaki and the rest of Aotearoa remain in Alert Level 2.
• The government will review these Alert Levels on Monday 4 October.
• There are no Delta cases in Taranaki or locations of interest.
• Gathering of up to 100 people will now be allowed at Alert Level 2, with Delta safety rules in place.
 

NPDC at Level 2

• In Level 2, most of our facilities are open with restrictions on customer numbers and sticking to the Delta safety rules.
• Visitors to our venues must scan or sign in, wear a mask and keep 2 metres social distancing.
• Thanks for being patient and respecting our staff who are doing their best to keep everyone safe.

What’s open:

• Our customer centre (Civic Centre) on Liardet Street, New Plymouth.
• Puke Ariki museum and library, and our libraries and customer centres at Inglewood, Waitara, Bell Block and Ōākura.
• Todd Energy Aquatic Centre main pool and fitness centre.
• Govett-Brewster Art Gallery.
• The TSB Showplace ticket box.
• Brooklands Zoo.
• TSB Stadium is closed for casual use at Level 2.

Puke Ariki and libraries

• Puke Ariki museum and library, and our libraries and customer centres at Inglewood, Waitara, Bell Block and Ōākura are open.
• We’re managing visitor numbers so we can stick to the social distancing rules.
• The Mobile Library will not be running in Level 2.
• We’re running our housebound delivery service in Alert Level 2.
• All public programmes and events, including Justice of the Peace sessions, at the museum and libraries are cancelled in Level 2.
• We’ve closed off the high-touch equipment and displays in Level 2.

Events

• We’re reviewing upcoming events at NPDC venues.
• TSB Stadium will be closed for casual use in Level 2.
• The TSB Showplace ticket box is open.

Parks, playgrounds and Brooklands Zoo

• Brooklands Zoo is open.
• The walk-through aviary and the barn remain closed in Level 2.
• Keeper Talks and other public programmes are cancelled.
• Please follow the direction signs at entrances and exits. 
• All walkways, parks, playgrounds and public toilets are open.

Pools

• Todd Energy Aquatic Centre main pool and fitness centre are open.
• The pool will open for squad and lane swimming and aqua-jogging only in Level 2.
• The tots pool, spa pool, hydroslides and sauna remain closed.
• Bookings will be required for swimming and restrictions will be in place.

Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre

• The Gallery is open.
• We will have fewer films showing in the cinema and admission numbers will be limited.
• Public and education programmes are cancelled in Level 2.

Rates

• If you can’t pay your rates, we can help with a personalised repayment plan.
• If you’re due a rates rebate, you can get it for the full year if you apply by 30 June next year.

Rules at Alert Level 2

• Everyone must scan or sign in.
• Everyone must wear a mask.
• Gathering of up to 100 people will now be allowed at Alert Level 2, with Delta safety rules in place. 
• Keep working from home if you can.
• Keep your distance from people.
• Wash your hands.
• If you have cold-like symptoms, get a Covid test.
