My principal place of residence is in the North Ward area. It's easy to be passionate about Waitara and our surrounding district when you're a born and bred local like I am. My own children are fifth generation Bedford's. Waitara is ingrained in all of us, Now is the right time to give back to my community by making a positive difference as a councillor for the North Ward. A career in business and sports management has provided me with a wealth of experience dealing with team environments, diverse cultures, tough issues and of course success. My passion is working with people, building an effective team and delivering sustainable outcomes. These attributes will help me to focus on the ageing population, youth, recreation and facilities and the environment during my time on council. My hope is for 'A better community together.' Let me be your eyes to see, your ears to hear and your voice to speak up for what matters.

My principal place of residence is in the North Ward area. I have a common sense balanced approach, ability to listen, always 2 sides to a story. Waitara and North Taranaki interests at heart, but also aware of the need to balance the New Plymouth district which we are all part of. I have no hidden agendas so therefore I can operate in an open and frank manner. I am willing to listen, learn and make the decisions needed. Member of the Waitara Lions Club for the last 33 years, have served in the Waitara Fire Brigade, also Taranaki Electricity Trust. Until recently Wendy and I had owned Waitara New World for 26 years. Served on Foodstuffs Board of Directors for 8 years, also New Zealand President for the Retail Grocers Association for 2 years. I believe I have the business/common sense experience to continue to serve the North Ward as Councillor, having served for the last 18 months.
