Brooklands Zoo

Charlie, our resident sulfur-crested Cockatoo, enjoys listening to the zookeeper's radio when it is too wet to be on display in the parrot garden. Go Charlie! 

Brooklands Zoo Closure for WOMAD : From 8am 6 March to midnight 23 March, the TSB Bowl of Brooklands, Brooklands Zoo, The Gables, Kunming Gardens and associated entrances will be closed to the public due to event construction in preparation for WOMAD. Thanks for supporting this wonderful event and for your understanding of our health and safety regulations.


Brooklands Zoo is a FREE, family focused zoo which is home to a diverse variety of species including farmyard animals, reptiles and amphibians, oriental small-clawed otters, meerkats, a brolga, Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys, Capuchins and Cotton-top Tamarins as well as a selection of colourful birds housed inside a walk-through free-flight aviary. We have more than 11,000 visitors annually and look forward to seeing you!

Location: Brooklands Drive, New Plymouth or walk from the city centre through Pukekura Park.

Hours: Open 9am to 5pm seven days a week, except Christmas Day.

Facilities: Wheelchair and pushchair access, playground (with a sun shade during the summer months), toilets and picnic tables.
