Taranaki Car Club has requested the temporary closure of roads in central New Plymouth to hold ‘Go to Whoa’, a motorsport event where cars complete a 60m sprint along the closed road.

Details of the requested road closure are as follows:

Date and period of closure: from 9am to 6pm on Sunday 17 February 2019.

Roads to be closed:

  • Gill Street from Gover Street to Eliot Street.
  • Davidson Street.
  • Flyger Lane.

The application is being considered under the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965. Submissions to the closure should reach New Plymouth District Council by 4pm on Friday 18 January 2019.

Submissions must be made on the road closure form, which is available online at newplymouthnz.com/submissions, or by contacting the Council on 06-759 6060 or enquiries@npdc.govt.nz.

Emergency vehicles will have unrestricted access at all times.

During the proposed period of closure, an approved traffic management plan will provide for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use the roads.
