G-TARanaki International Guitar Festival

World guitar legends coming to Taranaki

Rock, blues, classical, jazz, folk ... the first New Zealand International Guitar Festival will cater for all tastes and persuasions!

 

Dates: Monday 14 July 2008 - Saturday 19 July 2008
Locations: Through-out Taranaki

Taranaki will resonate to the tune of massed strings over the six-day period, culminating in concerts at the New Plymouth TSB Stadium delivered exclusively by international guitar legends.

Guitar legend Joe Satriani will head the line-up of international guitar stars, which includes former Deep Purple and Black Sabbath bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes and Guns n' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke.

Other international guitarists confirmed for the festival include Uli Jon Roth, Tom Donahue and Alex Skolnick Trio.

Not only will you be able to witness guitar mastery in an intimate environment but you will also witness some unique combinations of players that will make G-TARanaki a talking point for future generations.

Main concerts: Friday 18 July and Saturday 19 July at TSB Stadium. 
Sky Academy concerts and workshops: Between 14 and 18 July across Taranaki.
With so many guitarists in town, no doubt there will be a lot of fringe activity too, so keep tabs on local cafes and restaurants!
