Hearings Commission

The commission meets on an ad-hoc basis to hear and determine all matters where a formal hearing is required under particular acts, regulations and policy.

 

Policy Committee

The purpose of this committee is to develop strategies, policies and plans for the Council to promote the district’s community outcomes and priorities and consider matters that are not the function of other committees.

 

Monitoring Committee

The monitoring committee ensures that our Long-Term Council Community Plan and Annual Plan are effectively and efficiently implemented. This includes the delivery of services and asset management in accordance with the approved plans and policies and monitoring our performance, progress and financial position. The committee also ensures that all activities comply with appropriate legislation, strategies, policies and plans.

 

Creative Communities Advisory Committee

This committee meets twice a year and is responsible for allocating the creative communities funding that the Council receives from Creative New Zealand.

 

Joint Community Board Committee

This is a committee made up of the elected representatives of the four community boards which meets on a three monthly basis.

 

Len Lye Committee

This joint committee of the Council and the Len Lye Foundation provides for the planning and management of Len Lye works.

 

Funding Subcommittee

This subcommittee implements and administers the Creative Communities New Zealand scheme, community funding contracts and social service grants.

 

Iwi Liaison Subcommittee

This subcommittee enables Māori to have input into Council processes by investigating and reporting on issues that may impact on Māori. It also administers the marae grants scheme and the naming of roads policy. Recommendations from the Iwi Forum can be taken through the Iwi Liaison Subcommittee for further follow-up.

 

Youth Subcommittee

This subcommittee represents the district’s young people by making comments on reports to the Council or its committees that will have an impact on young people and finding out more about matters related to the district’s youth.
