Keith Sutton BCA (Victoria)

Keith Sutton is a Director of Sutton McCarthy Limited, which provides strategic, financial, and treasury advice to corporates, SOEs, multinationals and other clients.

He is a director of Aotearoa Fisheries Limited, Wool Partners International Limited, Gough, Gough and Hamer Limited, Wellington International Airport Limited and a number of other companies.

Keith is a former chairman of the New Zealand Futures and Options Exchange Limited, Executive Director of DFC New Zealand Limited and former member of the National Provident Fund Board.

Keith has farming and forestry interests in both the North and South Islands. Keith is also a member of the Institute of Directors and the Institute of Finance Professionals. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration degree in Economics and Accounting.

Elaine Gill ONZM LLB JP

A company director since 1986, Elaine has served on the board of TSB Bank Ltd, of which she is currently chairperson.

Elaine is also Chairperson of the Taranaki Arts Festival, and the Taranaki Community Health Trust.  

She has served on a number of national institutions including the NZ Consumer Council and the NZ Conservation Authority.

Mrs Gill was a New Plymouth District Councillor for nine years, retiring in 2007.

During her time on the council she was the chairperson of both standing committees, serving six years as chair of the Monitoring Committee and three as chair of the Policy Committee. She was also a member of the council’s Investment Subcommittee during all three terms.

For 12 years Mrs Gill was the Chief Executive of Tourism Taranaki, the regional tourism organisation. During her time in tourism she served on the board of a number of national organisations and was the winner of two national tourism awards and a finalist in a third.

She has also been recognised internationally by the Smithsonian Institution for her work with the initiation and development of heritage trails in New Zealand.

Mrs Gill has a degree in law from the University of Otago and in 1999 was awarded an ONZM (New Zealand Order of Merit – Officers) for her work in the community.

Born in England, Mrs Gill has lived in New Plymouth since 1971.

Dr Roderick Carr MA, PhD (Wharton), MBA (Columbia), BCom (Hons), LLB (Hons) (Otago)

Dr. Rod Carr is the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Canterbury.

Previously Rod had been the Managing Director of Jade Software Corporation Ltd which he joined in 2003 after a distinguished career in the banking sector, most recently as the Acting Governor of New Zealand’s central bank, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. 

During a five-year career at the Reserve Bank, he played a key management role as a Director and Deputy Governor, including five months as Acting Governor.

Prior to this, Rod was a senior executive at the National Australia Bank in Melbourne, Australia. During his 11-year career in commercial banking, he worked in senior executive and management roles spanning many aspects of the business.

Rod holds a PhD in Insurance and Risk Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, an MBA in Finance, MA in Applied Economics and undergraduate degrees in law and economics. In 2005 Rod accepted an invitation to become a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management and in 2006 he was named in NZ Hi-Tech Company Leader of the Year.

He is involved in several private and public companies as a director, including Lyttelton Port Company Ltd and Waingawa Forest Corporation Ltd. Rod is a member of the Board of the New Zealand International Business Forum, Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and a trustee of the Canterbury Arts Festival Trust.

In June 2009 Rod took on the role of Chairman for the National Infrastructure Advisory Board and in 2010 served as a member of the Ministerial Taskforce which reviewed the funding and operation of Crown Research Institutes.

Samford Maier JR.

Sandy has worked in international commercial and investment banking with Citicorp/Citibank for 15 years. He has held various management positions in the Caribbean, South America and Australasia, including as CEO of Citicorp/Citibank New Zealand.

For the past 20 years Sandy has headed his own international management consulting firm specialising in strategic financial and human resource matters and corporate governance. He has served as chief executive and/or board member of a number of public and private companies in New Zealand and abroad.

His current appointments include chairman of Oyster Bay Marlborough Limited (viticulture), Pathfinder Asset Management Limited, Geon Group and director of Perpetual Capital Management Limited (investment advisory services), and Mighty River Power Limited (electricity generation).

Sandy has lived and worked in New Zealand since 1986, serving on the board of the Bank of New Zealand and as the statutory manager of DFC New Zealand Limited. In the latter role he received a 1990 Commemoration Medal for services to New Zealand.  He is a dual citizen of New Zealand and the United States.

Chief Executive
Michael Trousselot BCom (Canterbury)


TIML Chief Executive Mike Trousselot.

Michael Trousselot is the Chief Executive of Taranaki Investment Management Limited, the perpetual investment fund owned by New Plymouth District Council.
 
He was previously CEO of Development West Coast, an investment trust which undertakes investment, contracts and projects to support business and economic growth on the West Coast of the South Island.

Prior to that Mike has worked in financial and senior management positions in a variety of publicly listed organisations, private companies and service organisations in the primary, manufacturing, importing, and health sectors.   His areas of expertise include general management, relationship and contract management, treasury functions, financial markets, business lending and investment, and accounting.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Canterbury University, with a double major in accounting and business administration.
 
He is a current member of the Institute of Directors, and corporate member of the New Zealand Venture Capital Association.  He holds directorship and advisory committee positions in several entities.

Michael was born in Christchurch, New Zealand.
