Getting to New Plymouth

DRIVING IS JUST ONE WAY TO GET TO NEW PLYMOUTH

Car, bus or plane - you choose!

The three main ways of getting to New Plymouth are by car, bus and plane.

 

By car

Situated half way between Auckland and Wellington, New Pymouth is a comfortable four to five hour drive from the two main centres.

By air

New Plymouth airport is located on Airport Drive, Bell Block approximately 12 kilometres (15 minutes) from the centre of New Plymouth.

The airport has commercial as well as general aviation facilities for private planes and helicopters, including hangers and refuelling services (BP/Mobil) as well as rental car operators, taxis, shuttles, short and long term paid parking and a café.

The main runway is 1310m and is oriented 05/23 with a taxiway leading from the runway to the terminal building on the south side. A 1219m cross runway is oriented 14/32.

Two companies provide regular flights between New Plymouth and other centres.

*Unlimited frequency and duration. (Passes are available from the Council's Civic Centre and the Avis desk at the airport.)
