Aims: To provide homecare support throughout Taranaki to help people stay independent.

 

Access Ability Ltd

Aims: To work in partnership with people to enable timely access to personalised services by providers. Individual needs assessment.

 

Advocacy Network Services

Aims: To empower consumers of health and disability services, to voice their complaints/concerns, by providing information and support that will allow resolution at the lowest level possible.

 

APEPSI Trust, Taranaki

Aims: To facilitate the coordination and provision of support services to people with disabilities who reside in the Taranaki area. To support the agencies who provide these services by funding, professional development, networking and encouraging their capacity to grow and strengthen their services.

 

Arthritis Support Group, Hawera

Aims: Improve the health and well-being of people affected by arthritis regardless of whether they are financial members of the organisation or not.

 

Atawhai Industries, Inc

Aims: Supporting people with disabilities in employment, living independently and community involvement.

 

Barrett Homes Trust

Aims: To provide short term accommodation for young physically disabled people.

 

Barrier Free Taranaki

Aims: Barrier Free Taranaki provides technical advice on building and planning for barrier free access. If you are a building industry consent officer, architect, engineer, project manager, associated with a territorial authority government department or a concerned citizen, we welcome your questions. Do let us know if you find any public facilities that do inhibit access via parking, toilet facilities, steep ramps or any other reason.

 

Blind Sport and Recreation, Taranaki

Aims: To provide recreational activities for visually impaired people.

 

Brain Injury Association Taranaki

Aims: To provide information and support to people with brain injuries and their families/whanau.

 

Burn Support Charitable Trust Inc,Taranaki Branch

Aims: To provide burn injured persons and their families with support and assistance during and after hospitalisation and to help them to return to normal and satisfactory lives within their community.

 

CCS Disability Action

Aims: CCS Disability Action is a not for profit society established in 1935. For over 70 years we have worked in partnership with disabled people and their families to ensure opportunity, quality of life and an environment that enhances community integration and participation.

Christian Fellowship for Disabled

Aims: To help our people with disabilities to reach their full potential. To educate, equip and share Christianity.

 

Community Information Trust

Aims: There to service the South Taranaki community. We have information related to the disability and senior sectors on support groups, legislation, equipment, aids, devices, purchasing, building access and design, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, transport and much more.

 

Cystic Fibrosis Association, Taranaki Branch

Aims: Support and information for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers and their families.

 

Disability Information Centre, Taranaki

Aims: To provide accessible resources which will empower people with disabilities to make personal choices about their quality of life.

 

Disabled Persons Assembly (DPA) Taranaki Region

Aims: To promote self advocacy as the speaking voice of people with disabilities. Supporting people with issues that affect their disabilities - can be taken to government level.

 

Idea Services North Taranaki

Aims: To provide support and information for people and their families with disabilities.

 

Ironside Vehicle Society Inc

Aims: Disabled transport for all ages. Five vans and qualified drivers certified to transport wheelchairs and passengers.

 

Lifeskills Taranaki

Aims: To develop and enhance the independence and wellbeing of people with disabilities. Activities are designed to improve confidence and skills (e.g. cooking, gardening, crafts, computing). Community participation including supporting and encouraging clients to involve themselves in community activities (swimming and fitness, etc). Support offered to clients when arranging benefits and other services through Work and Income, ACC, etc.

 

Mulitple Sclerosis Society Inc

Aims: To provide information, advocacy and support services to people with multiple sclerosis.

 

Muscular Dystrophy Association of NZ

Aims: To provide information, support and advocacy to people with neuromuscular conditions, and their families.

 

Parafed Taranaki

Aims: To inspire people with physical disabilities to achieve equality, excellence and wellbeing through sport and recreation.

 

Parent to Parent, New Zealand

Aims: Empowering parents, caregivers and whanau of children with disabilities, health impairments and special needs, through support and provision of information.

 

Parkinsonism Society Taranaki Inc

Aims: Provide a free field officer service to Parkinsons sufferers, carers and families. Improve the quality of life and provide information to all concerned.

 

Riding for the Disabled

Aims: To offer therapeutic horse riding for children and adults with disabilities.

 

Riding for the Disabled, Hawera Group

Aims: To give disabled people confidence, independence and well-being through therapeutic horse riding and horse care.

 

Royal New Zealand Foundation Of The Blind

Aims: To remove the barriers that blind and vision impaired people face. To promote participation of blind and vision impaired people in all aspects of life. To help ensure the incidence of preventable blindness is minimised.

 

Special Olympics, North Taranaki

Aims: To provide a sporting programme for people with an intellectual disability.

 

SPELD, North Taranaki

Aims: To support people with dyslexia who learn differently.

 

Unique Conditions Support Group

Aims: To provide support, information and friendship to families in Taranaki who have a child with a condition/syndrome, which is a 'one off' in this region.
