Alan Williams Carving

THE CIVIC CENTRE'S ENTRANCE FEATURES THIS ROCK CARVING

A stone carving of a woman's head.

Artist: Alan Williams

Corner Liardet and Vivian streets, New Plymouth.

This unnamed rock carving of a person's face is outside the Civic Centre.

When the carving was installed in 1998, Auckland artist Alan Williams said it was not meant to depict anyone in particular. However some local Maori see a very strong resemblance to Princess Te Puia from the Waikato.
