Iwi Relationships Team

The Iwi Relationships Team is a vital link between New Plymouth District Council, local iwi and hapu, and the general community.

 

Mihi

Mā te Taonga o te Raukura e tohutia te aratika nui mō tātau katoa.

He mihi tēnei mai te rōpū Honongatanga ā iwi me ngā kai mahi māori o Te Kaunihera o te rohe o Niu Paremata kia koutou katoa i raro I te maru o to tātau ariki.

Nau mai whakatau mai.

May the taonga of the raukura guide us all to the rightful pathway.

Aroha Chamberlain

Iwi: Te Ati Haunui-ā-Paparangi, Ngāti Tuwharetoa, Ngāti Kahungunu, Te Rarawa, Te Uri o Hau, Ngapuhi.

Aroha assists the council with developing relationships with iwi and hapū. She provides information to iwi and hapū about council processes and provides information services and evaluation on the council's bicultural policy. Aroha also coaches and mentors Māori staff.
