Stadium Taranaki Redevelopment

In preparation for hosting three Rugby World Cup pool matches in 2011, Stadium Taranaki (Yarrow Stadium) will be undergoing some redevelopment.

The total cost of the project is $1.96 million (including GST) and will be completed by May 2010. The work includes:

Installation of fibre optic cable capable of transmitting HD television signal.

Construction of a secure information technology and telecommunications equipment room (fire protected and air conditioned). 

Construction of two new fully enclosed coaches boxes and statisticians room in the east stand.

Upgrading the Star Gym car park to accommodate a new outside unit broadcast compound.  

Redevelopment of the north embankment as standing terraces for 8,750 spectators. Construction of a new standing terrace (dead ball standing area) at the south end of the playing surface for 760 spectators (achieving a 25,688 capacity for RWC matches).   

Installation of 60 purpose-built tabled press seats including power, phone and data lines.

Improving power and data requirements to support broadcaster and media requirements. 

Enhancing the closed circuit television security system. 

Installation of 3200 tip-up plastic seats in the existing south concrete terraces. 

TOTAL COST: $1,960,875 (includes GST)
