What are the flats like?

THERE'S A WIDE RANGE OF UNITS ON OFFER

A community housing unit.

Unit features

The flats vary in design, features and size. There are bedsits, single units and double units.

Bathroom facilities

Most of the units have a shower box; some have a shower over the bath. Bathroom heaters supplied by tenants will be installed free of charge, but must also be left in the flat when you leave.

Furnishings

All the flats are unfurnished. The units come with carpet, drapes, curtains or blinds. Vinyl is provided in the bathroom and the kitchen.  Stoves are provided in the kitchens.

If any items are left in your flat and you do not want the item, please let us know and we will arrange for their removal.

Heating

We do not supply heaters.

Laundry facilities

Tenants can rent a washing machine for $2.20 per week.  This charge doesn’t apply to those tenants that have communal laundries.

Parking

Only a few units have off street parking. For those that don’t, tenants either park on the road or they park on the grass beside their unit.

Refrigerators

Tenants can rent small refrigerators for $1.75 per week.

Alterations

Units are sometimes altered to meet tenant’s needs. Any work must be approved by us and paid for by the tenant. However, if any changes are recommended by a community occupational therapist and is considered by them to be essential, then it may be funded by a grant from the Health Funding Authority at no cost to the tenant.

Common alterations are installing showers, fitting handrails at entries and in bathrooms, and providing ramps for wheelchair access.
