Adult and Community Education

We support adult and community education in the New Plymouth District by helping education providers in the adult and community sector to identify common needs and develop partnerships and initiatives to meet them.

Education Taranaki

Education Taranaki is a development group facilitated by Venture Taranaki. It aims to achieve a vibrant educational sector within Taranaki and includes representatives from schools, private training institutions, tertiary institutions, careers service, the Tertiary Education Commission and other education focused organisations.

A member from our Community Development Team sits on the Education Taranaki Group to represent the adult and community education sector. The team has taken responsibility for the adult and community education section of Education Taranaki's strategic plan, which you can view here.

Adult and community education network

In partnership with the Tertiary Education Commission, we have established an Adult and Community Education Network.

This group of 15 adult and community education providers works to identify the needs of the sector and to develop initiatives to meet these needs.

One of the group's main roles is coordinating Adult Learners Week in September each year. This week is an opportunity for local people to sample free taster courses at numerous adult and community education providers across the district.
