Positive Ageing Strategy Consultation

An ageing population is an asset to the community and society, and the challenge is upon us all to maximise the contributions that our ageing members can bring. New Plymouth is a district well placed to meet the demands and challenges that ageing brings.

We have developed a Positive Ageing Strategy in partnership with the Positive Ageing Trust New Plymouth, government, health and community ageing providers. This strategy allows us to explore ways to ensure the qualities and attributes of our ageing population are effectively utilised.

The whole community has an obligation to support those that are ageing by ensuring that the younger generations are informed and guided, as well as ensuring the older generations have the opportunity to age with dignity, prosperity, security, happily and healthily.

The strategy sets out a vision and goals for ageing and an action plan that will help us to maintain a high quality environment and services for the ageing community of the district.
