We publicly consult on a variety of issues every year. Read the current consultations and have your say in the future of your community.

When making a submission online you can tick the box at the end of the form and a copy of your submission will be emailed to you.

Please note, your submission, including your personal information, will be available to the public and media as part of our decision-making process.

You can also contact us at any time with comments on any issue, whether they are part of a formal consultation or not.

Rural Review Project

Ensuring the New Plymouth District Plan (2005) is equipped to sustainably manage the rural environment.
Status: Stage 1 is now in progress.

Let's Shape Our Future

Have your say and help shape the Long-Term Council Community Plan for 2009-2019.
Status: Survey closes at noon on Friday 29 August.

Declaration of Council Land as Reserves

The council is considering the formal declaration of four land parcels, two in Inglewood and two in New Plymouth, as reserves.
Status: On 26 August 2008 the council passed a resolution to declare five land parcels as reserves under the Reserves Act 1977.

Neighbourhood Reserve Management Plans: Stage One

District reserve and parks management plans are being prepared to identify the appropriate mix of uses and activities within each reserve and guide their day-to-day management.
Status: Feedback has closed. This was step one in a two-stage consultation process. The first stage was looking for ideas from the community to help us draft the management plans. Once the draft plans are complete they will be released for public review (later this year) and further submissions will be sought.

Proposed District Cemetery

New Plymouth District Council is calling for submissions on the draft master plan of the new district cemetery.
Status: Submissions have closed. Your feedback will be considered and a report will go to the full council in August.

Strategic Transport Study

Managing the district’s road developments for the next 25 years and beyond.
Status: Public consultation has closed. Feedback has been considered by the council and forwarded to Transit New Zealand for their consideration before finalising the report.

Land Supply Review

The council is conducting a two-year review on the supply of land for residential purposes throughout the district and industrial land in New Plymouth and Bell Block.
Status: Consultation has closed and stages 1 and 2 are complete. Stage 3 (District Plan change process) started in April 2008.
