Closed Consultations

Commercial Use of Parks and Reserves

We will be considering feedback and using it to help develop commercial activities policies. These will be available for public submission towards the middle of the year.

  • Draft Commercial use of Parks and Reserves Discussion document (45 pages 1 MB PDF)

Coronation Avenue Walking and Cycling Improvements

Feedback will be considered and the proposed plans will be altered if required.

Proposed Transfer of the Sugar Loaf Islands for Treaty Settlement Purposes

It is proposed to transfer the ownership of the Sugar Loaf islands for Treaty settlement purposes. Both New Plymouth District Council and Taranaki Regional Council resolved to undertake a joint public consultation process before a final decision is made by the respective councils. All submissions received will be each considered by both councils.

Easement for flood defence structures at Te Rewa Rewa Reserve

If no objections are received, we intend to grant an easement to the Taranaki Regional Council (TRC) over part of Te Rewa Rewa Local Purpose Reserve. The easement is to provide for the grant of rights to TRC to construct and maintain essential flood protection works on the reserve (and an adjoining section of unformed Rifle Range Road) as part of the necessary upgrade of flood protection defences to a one in 100 year flood standard on the lower Waiwhakahio River.

Lighting trial survey

The feedback will be used to ensure we are using the right level, quality and type of lighting to meet the long-term needs of our community.

Land to be declared a reserve

If no objections are received, we intend to declare and gazette that area of land (Section 1 SO Plan 454226 comprising 402m²) to be a local purpose (access way and recreation) reserve pursuant to Section 14 of the Reserves Act 1997.

New Plymouth's Central Area Urban Design Survey

We are now analysing feedback from the 175 surveys received, which will help us write a draft Urban Design Framework for the central area. We expect to have that draft framework available for public comment early next year in early 2013.

Barrett Domain Management Plan

We are preparing a new management plan for Barrett Domain. Stage One consultation has closed and comments received will be used to inform the preparation of the draft plan. This will be released for formal public submissions in early 2013.

Granting Leases

No submissions were recieved for the first three so these will proceed. A report on the Waitara Pony Club will go to the Council for consideration.
