Plans and Strategies

The 2009-2019 Community Plan is our community’s collective vision of the next 10 years. It links to other plans and strategies, including our activity management and asset management plans.

The District Plan is the primary document for sustainable management of the effects of land use and development.

The Community Plan, District Plan and Council policies and strategies are used in our day-to-day decision making.

Alcohol Strategy and Action Plan 2009-2014

This strategy aims to minimise alcohol related harms for individuals, families and communities and to promote safer alcohol‐related environments within New Plymouth District.

Budget 2010/11

The Budget 2010/11 sets out NPDC's budget for the coming financial year (1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011).

Art in Public Places Strategy

A strategy to help enable the vision "That New Plymouth District will be recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in public art".

Asset Management Plans

Asset Management Plans provide a business overview of our significant activity areas and outline levels of service to be delivered in the 2009-2019 Community Plan.

This Community Plan seeks to reflect what type of community the people of New Plymouth District would like to live in, and the things they would like to see made available for their community.

The aim of the Framework for Growth is to ensure future residential and industrial development is properly managed.

Major Events Strategy

A strategy to help enable New Plymouth District  Council (NPDC or the Council), Sport Taranaki, Taranaki Arts Festival Trust (TAFT), Venture Taranaki Trust (VTT) and other event organisers to secure international events for the region, as well as retaining treasured, long standing community events.

New Plymouth District Cycle Strategy

The New Plymouth District Cycle Strategy sets priorities for works and initiatives regarding the planning, management and promotion of cycling in the New Plymouth District.

New Plymouth District Youth Strategy

This strategy outlines how we can support young people to develop the skills and attitudes they need to take part in society now and in the future.

New Plymouth Parking Strategy 2007-2017

The aim of the strategy is to help direct any parking initiatives over the next 10 years. This is a high level strategy which looks at the parking trends in the district and details a series of proposed goals and the methods to achieve them.

Parks and Reserves Management Plans

Our parks and reserves management plans identify the appropriate mix of uses and activities within each reserve and guide their day-to-day management.

Public Toilet Strategy 2000

This strategy sets out our approach for renewing, upgrading and providing additional public toilet facilities in the New Plymouth District.

Positive Ageing Strategy

This strategy is a community wide commitment to ageing supported by the Council, health, government and community.
