Three-night Road Works at Northgate

Thu 29 Jul 2010

Drivers will need to take care along a section of New Plymouth’s key northern exit during three nights of road works from Sunday (1 August).

Starting at 7pm on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, road workers will be on Northgate from the Plymouth Hotel to Mangorei Road until 4am the following day.

During the night the road will usually be open to two lanes but will occasionally have only one lane open, while two lanes will operate during the day with a 30k/h speed limit.

“The New Zealand Transport Agency is removing the top three centimetres of pavement across the road, then laying a new surface on top,” says NPDC Manager Roading Assets Max Aves.

“Drivers should allow more time for their journeys during the construction period, or perhaps use Devon St East to move between Fitzroy and the central city.”
