CBD Road Works

The second stage of a four to five year programme to improve the road surface within the CBD started in January. We will update this page as information and dates are finalised.

No work will be undertaken from 20-26 February, to allow for Americarna.  Work will recommence on Monday 27 February.

Start date

Work on Devon Street East (from Gover Street to Eliot Street) started on Sunday 29 January and the planned finish date is Sunday 12 February (weather permitting).

Roads to be resurfaced

Devon Street East (from Gover Street to Elliot Street)

This work will be carried out overnight from 6.00pm to 6.00am Sunday to Thursday. There will be no work undertaken on Friday and Saturday nights. Car parking will be available during the day, however there will be occasions when car parks will be unmarked.

Brougham Street (from Devon Street West to Powderham Street) 

Work will be carried out from 7.30am to 7.00pm. Arrangements will be made to relocate taxis to Devon Street West during the road works.

Devon Street East (from Currie Street to Liardet Street)

This work will be carried out overnight from 6.00pm to 6.00am Sunday to Thursday. There will be no work undertaken on Friday and Saturday nights. Car parking will be available during the day, however there will be occasions when car parks will be unmarked.

Work programme

Monday 13 February

Road marking (weather permitting).

Sunday 12 Monday

Asphalt surfacing is programmed for Sunday and Monday night starting at the Eliot Street end.

Wednsday 8 February

• Service box levelling.
• Water leak repair and reinstatement.
• Pavement density testing and pre-seal inspection.
• Membrane chipsealing (depending on the pre-seal inspection).

Tuesday 7 February

• Shaping, grading and rolling total site.
• Service box levelling.
• Pavement drain connections/cleaning eyes.

Monday 6 February

• Final make-up metal spread from Trading Post to Gover Street.
• Cement stabilised from Trading Post to Gover Street.
• Graded and rolled from Trading Post to Gover Street.
• Shaping and rolling Eliot Street to Trading Post.
• Water repair outside Baby Factory.

Sunday 5 February

• Cement stabilised from Eliot Street to Trading Post (180 metres).
• Graded and rolled the above.
• Make-up metal spread and shaped from Trading Post to Gover Street.
• Manholes and Service Box Lid levelling.
