Halls

We manage 11 halls throughout New Plymouth District. These are available for community groups, organisations and individuals to hire.

Bell Block Hall

Facilities: Bell Block Hall is one of the largest urban halls in New Plymouth District. It is well equipped with two badminton courts, a basketball hoop, stage, toilets, store, supper room, upstairs viewing gallery and foyer. The changing rooms have showers and the kitchen has an oven and other cooking facilities. Capacity is 500 with tables and seating for 200 people. Gas heating.

Brian Bellringer Pavilion

Address: Pukekura Park, New Plymouth
Facilities: Seating and tables for 80, full kitchen facilities, changing rooms for two teams plus umpires’ own room. Not suitable for social functions. Often busy over summer with cricket commitments.

Ferndale Hall

Facilities: Ferndale Hall is a medium sized hall (capacity 270) with a kitchen, small office, parking area and is next to a playground. Heating (electric) is coin operated. It is on a rear site, adjacent to playing fields.

Fitzroy Community Hall

Facilities: The hall can cater for up to 250 people. It has changing facilities and a moveable stage. The hall area is around 387m2 with additional supper/meeting room capacity. Ramp suitable for wheelchairs, accessible toilet, full kitchen facilities plus separate bar.

Fred Tucker Memorial Centre

Facilities: Designed for use by more than one group at a time, the Fred Tucker Centre has a sunroom (85m²), meeting room (73m²), hall with a stage at one end (175m²) and a lounge (55m²) which is attached to the main hall but separated by doors. It has kitchen facilities, tables and chairs, wheelchair facilities, a piano and coin operated heating. Maximum capacity is 185 people in the hall and 50 people in the meeting room.

Hempton Hall

Facilities: This medium sized war memorial hall (539m²) is located in the Okato Town Centre. The hall has a maximum capacity of 100 and features a dressing room and stage, separate supper room, heating, bar facilities and a kitchen with oven, cups and saucers for over 100. It is used for weddings, cabarets, concerts and aerobics. Plenty of street parking.

Inglewood Town Hall

Facilities: Located near the town centre, Inglewood Town Hall has a supper room, stage, main hall and gallery, kitchen (no crockery, but fridge and freezor) and reception area with 20 tables, 200 chairs and a piano. Wheelchair access. Maximum capacity is 300 people.

Merrilands Domain Hall

Facilities: Located within Merrilands Domain and next to the New Plymouth Rangers soccer clubrooms, the Merrilands Domain Hall has a main hall, committee room, kitchen facilities (no crockery) and male and female toilets (including an accessible toilet). Maximum capacity is 270 people.

Oakura Hall

Facilities:  The hall has a supper room, kitchen, table and chairs, a stage and gas heating. The hall is 505m² and has a maximum capacity of 400 people.

Onuku Taipari Domain Hall

Facilities: The hall has a total area of 313m² and includes a kitchen, separate dining room, toilets (including an accessible toilet), the main hall itself (net area of 162m²) and a storage room. The hall has a capacity of 270 people and has electric heating.

Star Gymnasium

The Star War Memorial Gymnasium (Star Gym) is located on the western side of Yarrow Stadium. The hall can accommodate up to 500 people. It has changing facilities, a kitchen and badminton courts. The area is 970m².

Waitara War Memorial Hall

Facilities: The hall offers a good range of facilities including a full basketball court, stage, well-equipped kitchen, chairs, theatre and coin operated heating. The main hall has a capacity of 500 people and the theatre of 176. The hall is the largest hall in the district and is centrally located with good parking facilities.
