Did you know you can book a public park, reserve or hall for your wedding or special event? New Plymouth District is full of stunning outdoor locations, some of our more popular ones are:

  • Audrey Gale Reserve.
  • Burgess Park Lawn.
  • Centennial Park Reserve.
  • Lake Mangamahoe (Lookout, Rimu Glen and Redwood Glen).
  • Marsland Hill.
  • Onaero Beach Reserve.
  • Pukekura Park (Band Room Lawn, Fernery Lawn, Eastern Lookout, Band Rotunda, Palm Lawn, Hatchery Lawn, Brooklands Park Lawn, The Bowl of Brooklands Stage, The Gables Lawn, Kunming Gardens)
  • Waiwhakaiho River Mouth.

Check out our online maps for all parks and reserves and hall locations.

  • Parks and playgrounds
  • Council-owned halls (a list of all halls and venues can be found in our Community Directory)

How do I book?

Once you have a date and time in mind please use our online booking form to make an enquiry about a venue.

What will it cost?

When we have confirmed the location is available a booking fee will be required to secure your date. This is $55 for one of our lawns or reserves (e.g. Hatchery Lawn, Audrey Gale Reserve). Halls are hired by the hour, visit our halls page for prices.

Are there any rules when booking an outdoor location?

  • If toasting, we recommend using plastic glasses to avoid the risk of broken glass.
  • No marquee/tent pegs or similar are permitted to be used. We recommend sand bags or a similar weight.
  • If you plan on using chairs then those with a bar-type bottom (as opposed to four feet) are recommended to reduce turf damage.
  • There is no vehicle access permitted beyond the car parks.

Can the lawn be mowed before my wedding?

Lawns and reserves are mowed depending on weather conditions and staffing levels so the area may not be mown before your event. Please note that catchers are not used on our mowers.

Can my event be bumped?

Weddings and events held at the Bowl of Brooklands are booked on the proviso that if a concert or large event comes to the Bowl, that booking will take priority and your booking may be cancelled. We will endeavour to provide as much advance notice as possible of any changes to a booking.
