Marae Grants

Marae in New Plymouth District can apply for funding for the following (in order of priority):

• Insurance.
• External works (protection of the fabric of the building ensuring it is structurally sound and watertight).
• Health and safety (work that ensures the building is safe and secure for all using it and includes areas such as electricity work, faulty floor boards, plumbing and lighting).
• Hygiene (matters related primarily to drainage, kitchens, bathrooms and toilet areas). 
• Interior structure (walls, ceilings, and the internal structures not already covered by the areas above). 
• Aesthetic and capital projects (this criteria allows for new desirable objects).

Grants are allocated on an annual basis. To be eligible, marae must be an incorporated society or trust, and forward with their application a copy of the previous year's audited annual accounts.

Applications
Marae Grant applications are open from 1 June and close 31 July annually. All applications must be made on the NPDC Marae Grant application form and include any relevant supporting documentation.

No late applications will be accepted. Komiti Maori will consider applications at the earliest possible time and marae will be notified by mail as to the outcome of their application.
