Change of Use

Buildings can be used in a number of different ways and a building’s use determines the safety features required. If you change a building's use (e.g. from a garage to a bedroom) you may need a building consent.

Compliance Schedules

Buildings containing certain safety and essential systems require a compliance schedule to ensure a building is safe.

Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF)

This is a statutory declaration issued annually by the building owner.

Certificate for Public Use (CPU)

Making sure your building is safe for the public to use before a Code Compliance Certificate is issued.

Accessible Toilets and Showers

Guidelines for incorporating accessible toilets and showers into your building project.

Landscaping and Floor Levels

How to ensure adequate drainage and sub-floor ventilation, preventing moisture damage to houses and other habitable buildings.

Building over Boundaries

Find out what's involved if you want to build over two or more allotments.
