Charges

The Colson Rd Regional Landfill is a regional facility. It is restricted to accepting refuse that can be landfilled without special procedures. Access is limited to approved customers only.

General rubbish
$46 per tonne (includes clean fill).
Minimum charges: Compactor trucks  $138, other vehicles  $230.

A minimum charge, equivalent to the charge for five tonnes of general refuse, applies except when the refuse is carried in a purpose built refuse compactor vehicle. The minimum charge in this case is equivalent to the charge for three tonnes of general refuse.

General wastes

Accepted wastes

  • Municipal or domestic refuse collected for disposal.
  • End of life tyres (quartered).
  • Non-hazardous commercial and industrial refuse for disposal.  
  • Clean fill, if authorised as acceptable by the solid waste officer.Return to top

Special waste

Special wastes

As a class A landfill, the Colson Rd Regional Landfill is able to receive the following special waste:

  • Asbestos (acceptable only if provided in accordance with the Asbestos Regulations 1998).
  • Confidential documents.
  • Small quantities of solids and sludges suitable for co-disposal with municipal refuse.
  • Hydrocarbon contaminated material (oily waste material has restricted daily volumes).
  • Non hazardous liquid waste and waste from commercial grease interceptors that cannot be disposed of at the wastewater treatment plant.
  • Non-hazardous commercial and industrial rubbish.
  • Screenings from approved wastewater treatment plants.
  • Small quantities of waste products containing potentially hazardous materials that is not likely to have adverse effects when contained within municipal waste.

Prohibited wastes

  • Solid wastes which, following a TCLP test, result in leachate concentrations unacceptable to the Colson Rd Landfill trade waste consent conditions.
  • Industrially toxic or chemically hazardous wastes.
  • Bulk liquid wastes.
  • Medical wastes.
  • Explosive, flammable, oxidising, or corrosive substances as defined under the HSNO Act.
  • Bulky containers.
  • Liquid wastes with less than a 20 per cent solid content and wastes which exhibit free running liquids when transported.
  • Radioactive wastes.
  • Lead acid batteries.
  • Refrigerators or freezers, unless they have been degassed.
  • PCB wastes.
