Maintenance

A contractor resealing a road in New Plymouth. Footpath cracked and unsafe? Road sign damaged? Pot holes?

If you notice something to do with the roads or footpaths that needs maintenance please let us know. This includes:

  • Broken or flickering street lights.
  • Loose seal which may cause damage to vehicles or an accident.
  • Faulty traffic lights.
  • Faded road markings.
  • Broken glass or debris on the road.
  • Overhanging branches blocking footpaths.

We are responsible for the maintenance of local roads. This includes streetlights, cycle lanes / cycle ways, footpaths, seating and other street furniture, pedestrian crossings and ramps, road signs, road markings, repair and maintenance of existing kerb and channel, street cleaning, traffic signals, service covers (e.g. manhole covers, grates) and maintaining vegetation on road sides.

The clean up of spillages such as diesel on local roads, crash response and debris cleanup is also done by us.

Vegetation maintenance

To eradicate any pest plants and hinder vegetation growth to ensure safe sight distances, we use chemical sprays on road sides and a non-toxic and non-chemical spray (usually Round-Up) in road side drains and inlets of culvert pipes.

Residents can ask for their property frontage to be a 'no spray zone', providing you manage the vegetation growth and pest plants at your own cost. We will work with you to ensure the maintenance meets safety requirements.
