Where to Park

Parking Overview | Parking Fines

The following council-managed parking areas are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, unless otherwise stated. Parking in all of these locations is free on Sundays and statutory holidays.

One hour limit

• Upper Courtenay St car park, Courtenay St, New Plymouth (in front of The Warehouse). Free parking at all times.

All day parking

• Egmont car park, Egmont St, New Plymouth. Fees: $2/hour 9am-5pm.
• Gill St parking precinct, Gill St, New Plymouth. Fees: $1/hour 9am-5pm.
• Puke Ariki north car park, St Aubyn St, New Plymouth. Fees: $1/hour 9am-5pm.
• Wind Wand car park, intersection Egmont and St Aubyn Sts, New Plymouth. Fees: $1/hour 9am-5pm.
• Downtown car park, Powderham St, New Plymouth. Open Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-6pm. Fees: $1/hour 8am-5pm. 
• Lower Courtenay St car park, Courtenay St, New Plymouth (below The Warehouse). Open seven days 7am-midnight. Fees: $2/hour 8am-5pm.
• Powderham St car park, between Vivian and Powderham streets, New Plymouth. Fees: $1/hour 8am-5pm.
• Central car park, Powderham St, New Plymouth (opposite TSB Showplace). Fees: $1/hour 8am-5pm.  
• Carrington/Vivian Sts car park, Vivian St ramp, New Plymouth. Note: Unavailable Saturday mornings (when used by market stalls), free parking Saturday afternoon. Fees: $1/hour 8am-5pm.

On-street parking

• New Plymouth CBD (Devon St – from Robe to Eliot streets) Two hour parking limit. Fees: $2/hour 9am-5pm.
• New Plymouth CBD (all other street and short section of Devon St – from Robe to Dawson streets) No time limit. Fees: $2/hour 9am-5pm.
• Urenui, Waitara and Inglewood shopping areas: Various time restrictions, free parking.
• Oakura and Okato shopping areas: No time restrictions, free parking.
