We aim to help you manage your whole building project. Sometimes building work may be delayed while other approvals are sought because they were not identified early enough. This can be costly and frustrating for the owner.

Some other approvals and project requirements include:

  • Encroachment licence application (1.3MB PDF) – if your project extends beyond your site boundary into public space, such as a footpath or a road reserve.
  • Land use resource consent (1.3MB PDF)
  • Residential woodfires (420KB PDF)
  • Subdivision resource consent (1.6MB PDF)
  • Vehicle crossing application (486KB PDF)
  • Woodfires PIM building consent acceptance checklist (43KB PDF)

Non-residential projects

We administer several licences and certificates that you may need before you can lawfully operate. The following approvals do not apply to homes, unless you intend to operate a business from your home. A compliance schedule may be required if your building contains more than one residence.

  • Compliance schedule (341KB PDF)
  • Health Act licence form (1MB PDF) – for premises that are going to be used for hairdressing, camping grounds, funeral parlours or offensive trades.

Other project considerations

  • Building over pipes (409KB PDF)
  • Existing street damage declaration (377KB PDF) – owners are required to pay for any damage to public places that results from their building activities.
  • Fences PIM building consent acceptance checklist (49KB PDF)
  • LIM application form (222KB PDF)
  • Rapid number request (500KB PDF) – to identify rural residences from the road.
